Motibhai announces Burger King openings after securing franchise deal

Children from the Nadi Centre for Special Education officially opened the new Burger King outlet

FIJI. The Motibhai Group has secured a master franchise agreement with Burger King Asia Pacific.

Its first outlet opening was in the international departures lounge at Nadi International Airport on 16 November, and this has now been followed with a second opening in the tourism hub of Martintar, Nadi.

In what is believed to be the first of its kind in the country, the “multi-million dollar” outlet was officially launched on 17 February by the children of Nadi Centre for Special Education – a special school looking after the educational needs of physically and mentally challenged children in the country.

Children from the three orphanage homes in Nadi were also invited to attend an evening event. All four institutions received a donation of FJ$2,501 (US$1,264), presented by Burger King Chairman Kirit Patel.

“We wanted to make a difference in the lives of our precious little guests of honour and the donation is a little way of appreciating their presence to open the first Burger King outlet for the domestic market,” said Patel.

Tourism Fiji Global Manager Public Relations Patricia Mallam said the outlet would provide a feeling of familiarity for tourists after they had tried local cuisines. “From a tourism perspective, this new product really adds value to what we can offer to our international visitors. This is when outlets like Burger King have much more to offer to our tourists and this is the encouraging part about it,” she stated.
