Welcome to In Crisis – Travel Retail Voices, our new podcast series where we speak to travel retail executives around the world to see how they and their businesses are coping with the COVID-19 crisis.
Today’s episode features Barry Geoghegan, the irrepressible Irishman and founder of Duty Free Global, a pure play travel retail wine company – and therefore a business very badly affected by the drastic slowdown and in some cases cessation of world travel.
Martin Moodie spoke with Barry at his home in the remote and beautiful Glencree Valley, in Enniskerry, County Wicklow.
“We’re trying to retain any little bit of business and the day the doors open we’re getting straight back again – we’re not sitting here licking our wounds, we’re ready,” says Barry as he reveals just how tough the crisis is proving for his and many businesses.
