LEBANON. Aphrodite Duty Free has announced that it will open two new 900sq m duty free stores in the Lebanese ports of Beirut and Tripoli “within two months”. The company described the new store concepts “as very modern and luxurious, responding to all travellers’ needs”.

The new stores will be managed by Aphrodite Duty Free Global Manager Travel Retail Mariem Mersni. She told The Moodie Davitt Report that the main categories will include perfumes & cosmetics, tobacco, wines & spirits, confectionery and gifts & souvenirs.

Aphrodite Duty Free has a strong existing presence in the Port of Beirut, serving ship chandlers, UN military forces and embassies as well as passengers transiting through what is dubbed the gateway to the Middle East. The port was badly damaged by a series of explosions on 4 August 2020, which killed 204 people and injured 6,500.
The retailer – which has been running duty free stores since 1994 – is led by CEO Karl Raphael.
