CHINA. Tianjin International Cruise Home Port Co has awarded China National Service Corporation (CNSC) the arrivals duty-free contract at Tianjin International Cruise Home Port after an open tender.
The Sinopharm-controlled company will open a 255sq m store in the terminal at the southern end of the Dongjiang Port Area in Tianjin.
The facility is the largest cruise passenger hub in northern China and the country’s second-busiest.

Drawing its passenger base from the two major cities of Beijing and Tianjin, Tianjin International Cruise Home Port boasts a crucial position in the Northeast Asian cruise tourism industry.
It has also become one of the key ports for major international cruise companies to build their Asian route networks.
Since the port opened in 2010, it has received a total of 990 international cruise ships and 4.7 million inbound and outbound tourists.

With the further development of China’s cruise tourism industry, the port’s continued growth in passenger numbers is projected to drive strong travel retail growth.
It has been a successful year for CNSC, which also won the arrivals and departures duty-free shops at Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport; and departures duty-free contracts at several other major gateways, including Fuzhou Changle International, Changchun Longjia International and Yanji Chaoyangchuan International airports.
It has also snapped up border store departures duty-free contracts in Heilongjiang Province at Luobei, Mishan, and Raohe.
CNSC now operates some 40 stores covering 20 provinces and municipalities in China plus operations in overseas markets including Japan and Dubai.
After winning the Tianjin bid, CNSC said it will support economic growth in Beijing, Qingdao, Zhengzhou, Dalian, Changchun, Yanji and other North and Northeast regions.
CNSC pledged to comprehensively develop multiple retail formats such as duty-free, duty-paid and cross-border retailing. By creating an innovative ‘cross-regional, multi-channel and multi-format’ business model, it will provide consumers with a more convenient and high-quality duty-free shopping experience, the company said.
This winning bid is not only a reunion of China Duty Free and Tianjin International Cruise Home Port Co, CNSC observed, but also a deepening of cooperation between the two parties.
The partners will work together to promote the development of Tianjin’s international cruise tourism industry and nurture the city’s rise as an international consumer centre, CNSC concluded. 🛳️
