Kirker Greer Spirits brings Ukiyo Japanese Gin to the global traval retail stage with Gebr. Heinemann

Kirker Greer Spirits has partnered with Gebr. Heinemann to accelerate the international roll-out of the Ukiyo Japanese Gin portfolio.

The partnership will see Ukiyo Blossom Gin, Ukiyo Tokyo Dry Gin and Ukiyo Yuzu Gin distributed across Heinemann’s airport retail and distribution network from April.

The Ukiyo Gin listing introduces a differentiated Japanese craft proposition to Gebr. Heinemann’s gin offer, traditionally weighted towards whisky and vodka, the company said. For Kirker Greer Spirits, the collaboration is a milestone in its three-year strategic growth plan for the channel.

Ukiyo Japanese Gin has recorded strong multi-channel growth across key international markets, outperforming broader category trends amid a challenged gin category.

The brand’s distinctive positioning centres on a rice spirit base combined with traditional botanicals and Japanese flavour profiles. It comes in design-led packaging aimed at capturing attention in the travel retail environment.

According to Kirker Greer Spirits, Ukiyo Gin offers a premium yet accessible price positioning and strong gifting appeal. It said the brand’s Japanese-inspired aesthetic and flavours are suited to immersive activations, such as pop-ups, tasting bars and seasonal showcases designed to drive engagement, trial and conversion.

Gebr. Heinmann Head of Buying Spirits Manuel Schilling commented, “By listing Ukiyo Japanese Gins, we have the opportunity to lead the premium Japanese gin segment in travel retail.

“The brand combines authentic provenance, striking design and activation-ready appeal, making it highly relevant for discerning international travellers seeking premium gifting and contemporary flavour experiences.”

Kirker Greer Spirits views global travel retail as a key brand-building platform, delivering a halo effect across domestic on- and off-trade channels while supporting broader international distribution ambitions.

Kirker Grer Chief Commercial & Strategy Officer at Drinksology Ryan McFarland added, “Partnering with Gebr. Heinemann is a major milestone in our global travel retail journey.

“At our core, we’re committed to working with best-in-class partners who don’t just move boxes but truly understand how to engage consumers through retail theatre and category-defining excitement.

“As Ukiyo continues its growth trajectory, launching our full gin range with Heinemann further cements the brand’s presence at the heart of the European travel retail channel. It also proves there is appetite for innovative, independent brands to challenge the status quo on the world’s most prestigious shelves.”

According to Kirker Greer Spirits, the partnership builds on the momentum of Japanese spirits in travel retail. It forms part of a wider strategy to increase global visibility for its premium portfolio, which includes Ukiyo Japanese Spirits, Born Irish Whiskey, Jawbox Gin and Kirker Irish Whiskeys.
