INDIA. Orchid Ent Outfit has been awarded the master retail concession for the new Jodhpur Airport terminal, where it will develop and manage a full retail offering.

Developed by Airports Authority of India, the new Jodhpur Airport terminal is scheduled to be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 4 July.
Jodhpur is the Northwestern state of Rajasthan’s second-largest city, located on the eastern edge of the famed Thar Desert.
Citing Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, local media title Bhaskar English reported the new terminal will be “a major gift” not only for Jodhpur but for the wider western Rajasthan region, significantly enhancing air connectivity and passenger infrastructure.

The 149,734sq m facility is approximately six times larger than the existing terminal and has been developed at an estimated cost of INR480 crore (INR4,800 million/US$50.5 million).
The concession builds on Orchid’s growing airport retail presence after securing the master retail concession for the new Kushok Bakula Rimpochee (Leh) Airport terminal in Ladakh – at an altitude of 3,256 metres, India’s highest commercial gateway.

Orchid is an Indian travel retail and lifestyle retailer founded by entrepreneur Dhruv Jain (click here for his recent interview with The Moodie Davitt Report Founder & Chairman Martin Moodie). Jain initially made his name in Indian airport retail with the 2016 launch and subsequent rapid development of the Toscee fashion brand.
In a social media post, Jain described the concession as “a real step up in scale”, which represents the next stage in the company’s role as a master concessionaire. Look out for our follow-up interview with him, coming soon. ✈
