‘Start Your Taste Journey’ – Ritter Sport puts flavour discovery at heart of 2027 travel retail strategy

Two travel retail-exclusive (TREX) Ritter Sport Choco Cubes formats will launch from March 2027, spanning a 400g Sharing Pouch and 158g Gifting Box (pictured)

Ritter Sport is sharpening its focus on flavour discovery, gifting and shopper engagement in global travel retail with a new strategy and product pipeline for 2027.

Under the ‘Start Your Taste Journey with Ritter Sport’ platform, the family-owned German chocolate specialist aims to strengthen its positioning as a ‘travel companion’.

The strategy is built around four pillars: new tastes, travel retail formats, discovery and experience. It places Ritter Sport’s signature square tablets, Choco Cubes and Minis at the heart of the offer.

The Ritter Sport Choco Cubes range has been expanded to feature five new flavours: Caramel Popcorn, Caramel Brownie, Noisette, Raspberry Cocoa and Crispy Milk.

The flavours will feature in two travel retail-exclusive (TREX) formats launching in March 2027: a 400g Sharing Pouch and a 158g Gifting Box.

A suite of activations launching from spring 2027 will bring the ‘Start Your Taste Journey’ proposition to life across key airport locations

The sharing pouch includes 50 individually wrapped Choco Cubes in the five flavours, while the gifting box, featuring seven flavours, is an accessible self-treat or gifting option.

Ritter Sport will launch a series of airport activations from spring 2027 to support the portfolio innovations. ‘I Went on a Trip and Packed My Bag’ will invite travellers to create their own perosnalised Ritter Sport selections. ‘Greetings From… 2.0’ will position chocolate as a beloved travel souvenir.

‘Enjoy the Little Things’ is set to spotlight Choco Cubes and their gifting and sharing appeal, while a broader Departure Gate concept will showcase the portfolio in an airport-themed activation.

The programme is tailored to individual key airport locations while retaining consistent brand codes.

Ritter Sport Chief Commercial Officer Michael Lessmann commented, “Travel retail is an environment where taste, discovery and excitement of finding something new come together.

“With our 2027 portfolio, we want to give travellers more reasons to explore Ritter Sport as their travel companion – through new flavours and formats designed around sharing and gifting, and activations that connect our products much more closely with the travel experience.”

Ritter Sport will present its 2027 portfolio and activation concepts at the TFWA World Exhibition & Conference (28 September-1 October), where it will exhibit at N18, Mediterranean Village.
