FINLAND. Airport company Finavia today (2 September) reported financial results for the first six months of 2026, with Commercial & Real Estate revenue climbing +9.2% year-on-year to €74.5 million. The company owns and manages Finland’s airports, including Helsinki Airport.
New openings supported the commercial growth. As reported, in March a much-enhanced retail and dining area opened in the Schengen zone at Helsinki Airport.
The Commercial & Real Estate increase in income outstripped a +6.4% rise in passenger traffic to 10.5 million, of which 8.5 million flew on international routes.
Group revenue increased +8.9% to €238.2 million in the half, with net profit at €17.1 million, down -8.5%.

A company statement noted that Helsinki Airport’s position as a transfer airport between Europe and Asia and between Europe and the Middle East has strengthened with the addition of new long-haul destinations. An example was the opening of a China Southern Airlines direct Beijing-Helsinki route in March, the airline’s only route to the Nordic countries.
Finavia CEO Kimmo Maki said, “The new operating model of the Commercial and Real Estate Development area has become an established part of Finavia’s operations.
“At Helsinki Airport, we continued to renew our passenger services and commercial offering. New restaurants and shops strengthened the passenger experience and grew our business alongside revenue from air traffic.” ✈
