FINLAND. Finavia has opened a retail and dining area in the Schengen zone at Helsinki Airport, introducing four shops alongside a café and restaurant as part of its ongoing commercial development strategy.
The space, located near Gate 30, blends Nordic brand storytelling with an immersive design concept rooted in Finnish nature.
Finavia Director of Commercial Services for Helsinki Airport Nora Immonen said, “We are continuously developing Helsinki Airport and its commercial selection.
“The new area brings interesting shops and a restaurant to the Schengen side of the airport, meeting passengers’ wishes. Helsinki Airport wants to claim its place as the best airport in Europe every day.”

The area has been designed to evoke Finland’s natural environment, with a sculptural tree installation forming the centrepiece. A swing suspended from one of its branches offers travellers a moment of pause within the terminal environment.
Additional elements include wooden bear figures, fairytale-inspired miniature scenes and landscape features aimed at engaging families and reinforcing the theme of Finnish nature.
Immonen added, “In Finland, tourists are particularly interested in the diverse nature and the experiences it offers, which we wanted to highlight in the new area of the airport together with interesting brands.”

The new retail concepts include outdoor specialist Partioaitta, which offers apparel and equipment for travel and hiking, while Lindex brings Scandinavian fashion across everyday and occasion wear.
The F&B component is led by Picnic, which combines familiar menu options with a new pre-order collection concept for inflight consumption.

Convenience retailer R-kioski provides grab-and-go products, while Pure – Taste of Finland focuses on local flavours and gifting.
As reported, Helsinki Airport was named Commercial Space of the Year in the 2025 NCSC Awards Finland competition.
The latest opening underlines Finavia’s continued focus on enhancing dwell time through experiential retail aligned with Finnish identity. ✈
