GERMANY. Lagardère Travel Retail Germany has secured a contract from Deutsche Bahn to develop and operate a new four-concept food court at Berlin Zoologischer (Zoo) Garten railway station. The development includes the German market debut of Panda Express.
The food court will be located between the station’s S-Bahn and long-distance rail concourses. It will open following an extensive refurbishment programme.
The line-up comprises Panda Express, NENI Deli, Coffee Fellows and a newly developed proprietary bakery concept.
The project represents a significant addition to Lagardère Travel Retail’s German foodservice portfolio and is designed to serve commuters and other rail travellers as well as visitors and residents of Berlin’s City West district.
American-Chinese fast-casual brand Panda Express’ Berlin Zoo unit will be its first regular-market location in Germany outside US military bases.
NENI Deli will also mark a milestone with its first location outside the airport channel. Lagardère Travel Retail is partnering with the Molcho family to introduce the Levantine-inspired concept to the Berlin rail environment.
The retailer’s new bakery concept is anchored by signature products from German bakery Zeit für Brot, including artisan baked goods made with Bioland-certified ingredients and long fermentation processes.
Established German coffee shop brand Coffee Fellows completes the food & beverage mix with a range of coffee specialities, bagels and snacks.
The food court will feature additional service windows aimed at the takeaway market, alongside dine-in facilities.
Lagardère Travel Retail said the development has been designed around easy-to-navigate offers and efficient service to meet the requirements of the high-traffic transport location.
