INTERNATIONAL. Airports Council International (ACI) is offering its latest course in Retail Concession Management, providing guidance to airport managers on their concession programmes. The six-hour online course can be taken on demand for a fee of US$395 and leads to a Certificate in Concession Management.
It is designed for staff engaged in managing concessions such as retail, food & beverage, duty free, services, parking and ground transportation and rental cars, said ACI.
Highlighting the key role of commercial at airports, ACI said: “Non-aeronautical income is a vital component of the airport’s income statement and of its resulting bottom line. Retail concessions remain the leading source of non-aeronautical income for airports, representing 29% of non-aeronautical income [data from the 2013 ACI Airport Economics Report -Ed].”
The programme includes details on planning, sizing and locating concessions, as well as managing finances and contracts.
The Certificate in Concession Management comprises three modules:
Module 1 – Commercial Operations in the Airport
Module 2 – Food, Beverage, Retail and Duty Free Concessions
Module 3 – Parking, Ground Transportation and Services
