VIETNAM. Airports Council International (ACI) World has today (6 November) published a guide to airports outlining key strategies to elevate the passenger experience and unlock commercial opportunities amid fast-paced digital change.

The Airport Commercial Digital Transformation Best Practices was unveiled during the ongoing Trinity Forum in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

The event, co-hosted by Airports Corporation of Vietnam and Imex Pan Pacific Group (IPPG), is the world’s most influential travel retail and airport commercial revenues conference. It is owned by The Moodie Davitt Report and organised in partnership with ACI Asia-Pacific & Middle East and ACI World.

This resource provides timely insights to support infrastructure developments and enhance the passenger journey, as airport commercial revenues account for nearly 40% of global airport incomes.

ACI World Director General Justin Erbacci said: “Airports rely on non-aeronautical revenues, also known as commercial revenues, to support infrastructure upgrades, enhance the passenger experience and ensure economic sustainability.

“These revenues account for approximately 40% of total airport revenues globally. By leveraging digital technology and innovation, airports can unlock new partnerships and revenue models and really drive airport transformation, positioning themselves for long-term success in an increasingly competitive environment.”

Key highlights of the Airport Commercial Digital Transformation Best Practices include:

  • The importance of driving change and its benefits
  • Possible future trends
  • How to benchmark airport commercial digital maturity
  • How to organise the airport business internally to deliver commercial digital change

The publication was developed by airport commercial and digital experts, members of the Sub-Committee on Non-Aeronautical Activities and Revenues of the ACI World Economics Standing Committee.

This guide is one of several free resources designed to help airports drive their non-aeronautical revenues, covering a wide range of topics such as digital, retail, concession agreements, ground access, food & beverage, leisure and hospitality, and sustainability. ✈
