ADAC names Jim Bennett as new Chief Executive

ADAC Chairman H.E. Khalifa Al Mazrouei: “Under [Bennett’s] leadership ADAC will continue to develop into a world class airport company.”

UAE. Abu Dhabi Airports Company (ADAC) has named James Bennett as its new CEO. Bennett was previously President & CEO of the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority (MWAA), a role he took in 2003. He takes over from Acting CEO John Stent on 1 June. Last year Stent succeeded Rudy Vercelli, who was CEO from March 2008.

ADAC Chairman H.E. Khalifa Al Mazrouei said: “Jim joins ADAC at an important phase in its short history and I am confident that under his leadership ADAC will continue to develop into a world class airport company.

“We have a clear vision for the future of ADAC and for the airport businesses within the group and I believe Jim is ideally qualified to help us realise that vision over the coming years. I would like to express my thanks to John [Stent] for his important contribution to the business since last June.”

Jim Bennett said: “I am excited to have this opportunity. My focus will be to build on the strong foundations already in place, further cementing ADAC’s role as a leading world hub and ensuring the company’s growth in constructive partnership with all relevant stakeholders.”

At MWAA Bennett led an organisation consisting of over 1,400 employees operating Ronald Reagan Washington National, Washington Dulles International Airport and the Dulles Toll Road. Managing, planning and directing all programmes and activities of the MWAA – a quasi-public, stand-alone business enterprise with annual revenues of over US$650 million – Bennett was responsible for the execution of the US$7.1 billion reconstruction and expansion of Dulles Airport; in addition to the US$1 billion that it previously invested in Ronald Reagan Washington National. Bennett will become the Chairman of the American Association of Airport Executives in May 2010.
