INDIA. Adani Airport Holdings and The Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL) have signed a major operating agreement covering eight hotels and more than 2,000 rooms on airport land in Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Lucknow and Guwahati.
The partnership marks another significant step in Adani Airports’ Airport City strategy to transform its aviation gateways into integrated commercial, hospitality, retail and lifestyle destinations.
Under the agreement, Adani Airports will develop the properties, with IHCL operating them under the Taj, Vivanta, Gateway and Ginger ICHL-owned brands.

The portfolio comprises three Taj hotels, two Vivanta properties, one Gateway and two Ginger hotels, spanning luxury, upscale and mid-scale accommodation.
Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport will feature a Taj hotel in Terminal 2, while Lucknow will accommodate Vivanta and Ginger properties.
Taj and Vivanta hotels are already at advanced stages of development in Ahmedabad, with Guwahati set to welcome Taj, Gateway and Ginger properties.
Adani Airport City Limited has a land bank exceeding 655 acres across eight airports in seven Indian states, including almost 440 acres in Mumbai and Navi Mumbai.

In its first phase, the company plans to invest more than ₹20,000 crore (US$2.3 billion approximately) to develop around 22 million sq ft across six airport cities.
Adani Airport Holdings Director Jeet Adani said, “Across the world, leading airports are evolving into integrated destinations that serve as catalysts for commerce, tourism and urban growth.
“Our ambition extends beyond operating airports to developing vibrant Airport Cities that bring together hospitality, business, retail and leisure, while enhancing the overall passenger and visitor experience.”
IHCL Managing Director & CEO Puneet Chhatwal highlighted the commercial opportunities emerging from India’s expanding aviation market.
“As India strengthens its position as one of the world’s fastest-growing aviation markets, airport-centric developments are emerging as important commercial and hospitality hubs,” he said.
The additions will take IHCL’s presence at key Indian airports to 25 hotels, while Adani Airports’ hotel partnerships now cover 15 properties across its network. ✈
