FRANCE. Aelia has completed a major retail renovation project at Marseille Provence Airport with the opening of a new Schengen multi-category outlet. The 111sq m store enjoys a central location within the departure lounge of the main terminal, and offers all core product categories excluding tobacco.
The new opening brings to an end the final phase of Aelia’s renovation project at Marseille, where the retailer completed its largest French multi-category store-at nearly 700sq m-in September. Aelia also operates the duty and tax free concession at Marseille’s low-cost terminal, MP2.
The new store will serve customers travelling to Marseille’s key Schengen destinations, including Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium and Spain, and also domestic traffic en route to Corsica.
Aelia Regional Operations Director Pascal le Droff said: “This new opening completes what has been an extremely exciting investment project for Aelia and we are delighted with the support and encouragement we have received from Marseille Provence Airport. The new Schengen store has a fantastic location; it is open and welcoming, and passengers can’t miss it. As a result we’re confident of a significant increase in turnover.
“We now have three modern, attractive points of sale in Marseille and the signs are that our investment is paying dividends. This airport is very important to our regional business and is well placed to grow still further.”
