FRANCE. Leading duty free retailer Aelia has opened a 274sq m store at Paris Beauvais Tillé’s new Schengen-dedicated Terminal 2.
It strengthens the presence of the Lagardère Services group at the location. Alongside duty free, the company also operates news & gifts (through Relay) and food & beverage concessions in T2.
Aelia won the tender for the store in mid-2009 and the Aelia Duty Free branded multi-category store opened in December 2010, complete with the colour-coded, zoned store concept first seen in Nice in May 2010.
The company said: “Aelia has carefully selected and tailored the range on offer at the store to present the low-cost airline passengers – the majority of the traffic – with the best of duty free: special and promotional offers on male and female fragrances and on cosmetics; a breadth of international brands for liquor, wines, and Champagne; a wide gastronomic assortment of gourmet and local foods; as well as confectionery, fashion accessories and electronics.”

Aelia has unveiled a quality new retail look at Paris Beauvais Airport |
New brands include MOA, a popular French label that offers a contemporary range of jewellery and accessories for teenagers and young women, and which is making its first entry into the travel retail channel at an airport.
Alongside the new Aelia Duty Free and Relay stores, Lagardère Services has also introduced its new Trib’s food & beverage brand at Beauvais (first seen at Toulon in April 2010). The Trib’s concept is specifically focused on “fresh, simple high-quality food in relaxed, easy access environments and supported by efficient service”, the company said.
Aelia Group Director of French Regional Operations Pascal le Droff said: “We are delighted and proud that the management at Paris Beauvais Tillé Airport has entrusted us with the new duty free store and we are confident that our intensive understanding of the needs of the airport’s travellers is fully expressed in the offer that we have created.
“With the close support of our brand partners, the product range includes a portfolio of major international brands that is complemented by a strong regional emphasis that will delight the shopper and supports the unique character of the airport.”
Philippe Trubert, Deputy Commercial Director at Paris Beauvais Tillé Airport, said: “Following the development programme and the new terminal opening, it is vital that Beauvais has a strong retail offer that meets the needs of our travellers and complements the whole airport experience at Beauvais. The duty free store has an ideal location for footfall and Aelia has created an exciting looking offer that I am sure will delight our travellers. We are confident that Aelia can deliver the shoppers’ needs and we look forward to seeing the success of this exciting new store.”
Traffic at Beauvais is driven primarily by low cost airlines, with Ryanair responsible for the majority of flights, and the airport handled 2.6m passengers last year.
