Aelia retains Strasbourg contract

FRANCE. Aelia has won a renewal of its Travel Value and duty free concession at Strasbourg Entzheim International airport in a competitive bid against Weitnauer. A new five-year concession will commence on 1 April for a 100sq m (1,076 sq ft) duty free shop in ground floor departures, between the Schengen and non-Schengen areas. In addition a new 20sq m (215sq ft) Travel Value store will open in Schengen departures on the first floor.

Strasbourg commercial development manager Thomas Lelievre told The Moodie Report: “We are very satisfied with the conditions proposed by Aelia. The configuration of our airport and the main shop makes us believe that the first floor shop will help us to develop sales and capture new traffic.” Schengen passengers account for 60% of the airport’s traffic, who currently tend to pass by the main shop. The other option being considered by Strasbourg was to increase the size of the main duty free location to 120sq m (1,291 sq ft).
