FRANCE. Aéroports de Paris (AdP) has reported a modest -3.1% year-on-year decline in passenger traffic in July 2009 to 8.2 million.
Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport saw a drop of -4.3% to 5.7 million while Orly Airport experienced a marginal fall of -0.2% to 2.5 million.
In July, international traffic (excluding Europe) decreased by -2.4%. Traffic on routes to and from Africa was buoyant with a +3.3% increase. Traffic on North America routes fell by -4.6% while Latin America dropped by -7.6%.
On Middle Eastern and Asian routes, traffic dropped by -5.0% and -5.7% respectively.
European traffic (excluding France) fell by -3.6% including -3.5% on Schengen routes and -5.9% for the British and Irish markets.
Domestic traffic dropped by -4.8%.
The number of connecting passengers decreased by -2.8% in July 2009 compared with July 2008 with a connecting rate of 22.2%, a stable connecting rate compared with July 2008, said AdP.
For the first seven months of the year, passenger traffic decreased by -5.9%. For the same period, the number of connecting passengers decreased by -4.6% resulting in a connecting rate of 24.0% (against 23.7% for the first seven months of 2008).
