AUSTRALIA. The three major out of home advertising concessionaires operating in the Australian airport market – oOh!media, JCDecaux and Bishopp – have weighed in with sponsorship support for the upcoming Australian Airports Association (AAA) Retail & Commercial Forum on 20-21 July.

The Forum, to be held on the Gold Coast, is organised as a partnership between the AAA, The Moodie Davitt Report and The Mercurius Group.

This first stand-alone event for the airport retail and commercial sectors in the region is attracting strong support from the airport commercial sector.

As previously reported, the event is being sponsored by four major duty free operators – DFS, Dufry, Heinemann and LagadereAWPL, as well as six major F&B operators – ARE, Cater Care, Delaware North, Emirates Leisure Retail, HMS Host, and SSP. These players have now been joined by the major airport advertising concessionaires oOh!media, JCDecaux and Bishopp.

Bronwyn Clementson, General Manager Commercial, Australia for global advertising powerhouse JCDecaux, said: “The Australian and New Zealand airport markets are an important part of the JCDecaux global airport portfolio. We are looking to growing our presence in the Australian market and we see the Forum as an ideal platform for us to communicate with airports.”

Bishopp Director of Strategy Nick McAlpine said: “Bishopp’s strength is our local market knowledge which helps us to deliver a critical source of revenue to 23 regional airports across Australia and New Zealand. This Forum is a great way for us to engage with our airport partners in the same place and at the same time.”

Commenting on the support from the advertising sector, Ivo Favotto, Managing Director of The Mercurius Group said: “We are delighted to see such amazing support coming out of the airport commercial sector for this event. We now have top duty free, F&B and out-of-home advertising concessionaires on board as sponsors which is a great endorsement of the value they see in the whole industry coming together.”
