Airport Food & Beverage (FAB) Awards attract a record 161 nominations

INTERNATIONAL. Entries for the annual Airport Food & Beverage (FAB) Awards, run by The Moodie Report and sister title The Foodie Report, closed on 11 May, with a record 161 nominations from around the globe.

The dedicated Airport Food & Beverage (FAB) Conference & Awards website can be found at www.FABawards2012.com

Interestingly, the category that attracted the most nominations was ‘Sense of Place’, a new classification for 2012 that seeks to promote the concept of F&B reflecting local or national tastes, traditions and culture.

Another new category, ‘Best Railway Station F&B Offer’, also attracted a very high number of innovative entries from several countries.

The judging panel will convene in coming days to review all nominations and a shortlist will be drawn up and published by the end of this month. Winners will be announced at the 2012 Airport Food & Beverage (FAB) Conference & Awards Gala Dinner on the evening of 21 June in Amsterdam.

This year’s judges are:

David King, Director, The David King Partnership
Martin Moodie, Founder & Chairman, The Moodie Report
Dr Patricia Ryan, America Bureau Chief, The Foodie Report/The Moodie Report; and President, Decision Services International

David King, Convenor of Judges, said: “We’re incredibly impressed with the number and, more importantly, the standard of nominations this year. They underline travel food & beverage’s status as a vibrant, evolving, increasingly quality-obsessed sector that is flourishing as never before.”

The FAB-ulous event, taking place 20-22 June, will be hosted by Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, which has promised an extraordinary celebration of the very best in food & beverage.

Appropriately, FAB 2012 will be held at the Okura Hotel, a centre of culinary excellence in the Dutch capital.

Leading global F&B concessionaires HMSHost and SSP are Platinum Sponsors of FAB 2012, and will host the Opening Evening Event and the Gala Dinner respectively.
