Fashion forward: Alviero Martini 1a Classe basket weave bag (top) and signature antique map print model |
ITALY. Italian fashion house Alviero Martini showcased the latest leathergoods and accessories in its well-travelled 1a Classe range at the 2007 TFWA World Exhibition.
The Spring/Summer 2008 collection features updated versions of the company’s signature antique map print as well as bags in fashionable fabrics such as leather-trimmed nylon, linen, cotton and canvas.
Alligator trims and basket weave designs add an air of newly injected fashionability. February 2008 will see the launch of bags featuring an on-trend metallic look with bronze trim.
Under new management that joined the company several years ago, Alviero Martini continues to forge ahead with its global retail presence. That combination has led to a doubling of sales in the last three years, according to the company’s US-based representatives Kathy and Seth Levine, talking to The Moodie Report at the Cannes trade fair in October.
1a Classe’s airport stores include Rome Fiumicino, Milan, Florence, Bari and Venice in its home market of Italy as well as far-flung destinations in Russia and China, where the brand is highly popular.
The US airport presence is represented by locations such as Detroit, Buffalo, New Jersey and New York Newark, and Philadelphia will be added to this list soon.
In the important Asian market, Seoul, Taipei, Kuala Lumpur and Bangkok are key airport shops.
The label is also a favourite among cruise passengers, with Harding Bros carrying the brand on a number of ships, including the Cunard liners Queen Mary and Oceania, as well as Crystal Cruises and Silversea Cruises. Kathy Levine puts this sea-faring success down to the collectible nature of the collection and its relevance to travel.
In addition to bags, luggage and accessories, the company offers a wide range of products including sunglasses, footwear and apparel.
