INTERNATIONAL. The Trinity Forum, the world’s leading airport commercial revenues conference, will take place this year on 12-14 September in Mumbai. The event, co-organised by The Moodie Report, ACI World and ACI Asia-Pacific, will be hosted by Mumbai International Airport Limited.
The event will begin with an Opening Cocktail reception on Monday 12 September, followed by the conference on 13 and 14 September, with a Gala Dinner to be hosted on the night of the 13th.
The event has already attracted some high-profile industry support. The world’s number one travel retailer, Dufry Group, has signed up as a Platinum Partner, as has leading beauty house L’Oréal Group Travel Retail. Other confirmed sponsors include Dubai Duty Free, Qatar Duty Free and Lacoste, with more to be named shortly.
The Trinity Forum, first held in 2003, seeks to improve dialogue and mutual understanding between airports, concessionaires and brands to the benefit of that critical fourth party – the travelling consumer.
The Moodie Report Founder & Chairman Martin Moodie said: “We are thrilled to see The Trinity Forum come for the first time to India at a critical time for that country’s airport channel and amid the continuing evolution of travel retail.
“Our host Mumbai International Airport Ltd has been among the most progressive of India’s airport companies, with a sharp focus on consumer and commercial services, and with a vision of how the traveller of the future will want to experience airport services.

“Alongside a stimulating conference, we can promise guests a hugely memorable stay in one of the most colourful, culturally diverse and exciting cities on earth.”
ACI World Director General Angela Gittens said: “India’s accelerated economic activity saw the country approaching China last year in its contribution to the growth of total passengers in the Asia-Pacific region; in fact, India surpassed China in domestic passenger traffic growth at its major commercial airports. The country’s rapidly expanding middle class, eager to experience the joys of air travel, not only bodes well for the growth of aviation, but also for that of travel retail. As such, Mumbai is the perfect venue for the 2016 Trinity Forum, this year kindly hosted by Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport.”

Angela Gittens: “Non-aeronautical revenue continues to be key to the financial resilience of airports”; Martin Moodie: “Thrilled to see The Trinity Forum come for the first time to India” |
She added: “In an increasingly competitive environment, non-aeronautical revenue continues to be key to the financial resilience of airports the world over, and credit goes to the retail operators and brands for their continuing efforts to capture the imagination of the traveling shopper. I look forward to seeing what travel retail has in store for air passengers over the year to come, and to finding new ways for airports, retail operators and brands to work together to maximize benefits and opportunities for all.”
Commenting on the location and dates, Moodie said: “We have consulted closely with our partners and other industry stakeholders, notably TFWA, to ensure the best timing for Trinity 2016. In particular we have sought to avoid the earlier than usual TFWA World Exhibition in Cannes (2-7 October) and the association’s key Management Committee meeting in early September. We thank TFWA for their assistance in helping us reach suitable dates.
“With regard to trade publication DFNI this week announcing its “˜India Rising’ conference in Mumbai (June 23-26), we had advised them last November of Trinity’s location and timing. We think it unfortunate for the industry to hold two conferences in a single city within the space of four months.”
