SPAIN. Global travel restaurateur operator Areas has opened Morro Fi at Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat Airport, marking the first new venue launched following the company winning the lion’s share of food & beverage concessions awarded by Aena in 2025.
Located in Terminal 1’s departure area next to the B gates, the 137sq m venue brings one of Barcelona’s most recognised aperitif concepts to the airport, offering travellers an authentic vermouth bar experience centred on local gastronomy and the city’s aperitif culture.

The opening marks the beginning of Areas’ planned roll-out of new dining concepts across the airport in the coming months, combining international brands, proprietary concepts and local operators.
Founded in Barcelona in 2007 as a food blog celebrating the city’s traditional bars, Morro Fi opened its first venue in the Eixample district in 2010.
It has since grown into one of the city’s leading aperitif brands, with five venues and a strong identity rooted in Barcelona’s culinary heritage.

The airport location features Morro Fi’s signature vermouth alongside premium preserves, gildas, pickled delicacies, hot and cold appetisers, and hot sandwiches made with locally sourced ingredients.
A retail area allows passengers to purchase the brand’s products, including vermouths, olives and curated aperitif gift packs.
Areas said the opening reinforces its strategy of introducing concepts with a strong sense of place into travel environments.

Areas Iberia CEO Sergio Rodríguez said, “The opening of Morro Fi represents much more than the arrival of a new brand at the airport.
“It is the first tangible milestone in the project we are developing at Barcelona Airport following the award of Aena’s new concession, and it reflects our commitment to bringing travellers concepts with a genuine local identity.
“We want the airport dining experience to become another way of discovering Barcelona, and few brands embody that spirit better than Morro Fi.”
