ARI names John Woodhouse to China & East Asia development role

John Woodhouse: New role based in Shenzhen, China for ARI

IRELAND/CHINA. Aer Rianta International (ARI) has named John Woodhouse as Head of Business Development, China & East Asia.

Woodhouse, who is from Dublin, joined ARI in 2006 as Shannon-based Business Development & Marketing Manager and takes up his new role with immediate effect. He will be based in Shenzhen in Southern China and report to ARI CEO Jack MacGowan.

“This is a strategic appointment for ARI as we seek to expand our airport retail operations throughout China and East Asia,” said MacGowan. “The region is one of the fastest-growing in the world, not only in terms of air travel and airport development but also passenger spend on premium branded goods, and ARI believes there are significant opportunities for growth there.

“John played a key role in securing ARI’s contract with Kunming International Airport earlier this year. The opening of our retail outlets in Kunming in 2012 represents ARI’s initial entry to the travel retail market in China. We are confident the company has the experience, skills and partnership approach to facilitate further expansion in the region and John’s appointment brings a significant additional resource to this key market,” he added.
