INTERNATIONAL. Welcome to the November edition of our popular pictorial series, which highlights the key images of the month in travel retail.
November was an eventful month, highlighted by a great example of collective industry determination and generosity in a fund-raising initiative for children’s cleft charity The Smile Train.
The immensely successful “˜Miles for Smiles’ 5km and 10km run held in Dubai raised over US$240,000 for the cause – enough to fund life-changing operations for 960 children.
The annual Dubai Duty Free Golf World Cup took place over two days on a brace of Dubai’s best championship courses, where the industry’s golfing talents pitted their skills against each other in a stiff but fun competition. As with every year, the party held at the Dubai Duty Free-run Irish Village was a highlight of the event.
The month also saw the seventh annual Middle East Duty Free Association (MEDFA) Conference taking place in Abu Dhabi, with a strong attendance of around 400 delegates. Over in Shanghai, the inaugural China Airport Retail Expo 2008 was held, combining the 2nd China Airport Retail Summit 2008 with a three-day exhibition at the ShanghaiMart Exhibition Centre.
