Trent Russell: Moves from China domestic to the travel retail channel


INTERNATIONAL. Bacardi Global Travel Retail Division has appointed Trent Russell as Global Marketing Director. He replaces Gary Chau.

Russell has been Marketing Director for Bacardi China for three years, where, the company said, “he has played an instrumental role in developing both the business and the Dewar’s brand into a formidable competitor in the China market”.

In China he led the strategic brand development of Bacardi’s leading premium spirit brands, overseeing brand strategy, activations, innovations and communication initiatives. Before that he held a number of marketing roles in Bacardi’s joint-venture business, Bacardi Lion, in his home country Australia.

There Russell was a member of the Executive team, and throughout his tenure held both pure marketing roles, including the Marketing Director post, and commercially focused positions overseeing Trade Marketing, Marketing Planning and general Marketing Services.

Before joining Bacardi’s Australian operation, he worked in the tobacco sector with both British American Tobacco and Imperial Tobacco

A replacement for the Marketing Director in China will be announced in due course.
