BASL makes mark outside Bengaluru with two premium lounges at Tiruchirappalli Airport

INDIA. Bangalore Airport Services Limited (BASL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL), has unveiled two lounges under the brand name O’Vetra at Tiruchirappalli International Airport.

This is the company’s first venture outside its home airport of Kempegowda International in Bengalaru, where it operates the high-class 080 Domestic and International lounges.

The O’Vetra International Lounge features striking visual ceiling effects and wide-ranging seating options (above and below)

Tiruchirappalli International Airport serves the city of Tiruchirappalli in the Tamil Nadu state.

The new lounges span 450sq m (maximum 107 guests) in the airport’s Domestic Terminal and 620sq m (150 guests) in the International Terminal. The seating layouts are tailored for both individual travellers and small groups.

A note from BASL said: “With focus on service excellence, O’Vetra is designed to prioritise comfort, accessibility and intuitive service, reimagining airport hospitality with elegant details and a warm, welcoming ambiance.”

With a design inspired by the cultural fabric of Tiruchirappalli, BASL said the lounges reflect the city’s identity through design elements drawn from local art, architecture and materials.

A Kolam-inspired reception wall welcomes guests, while blue flooring (see image above) mirrors the flow of the Kaveri River, and handcrafted cane and bamboo chitai detailing adorn the ceiling.

Terracotta textures and a beige palette pay homage to the Rock Fort Temple, Tiruchirappalli’s historic Hindu temple complex.

Highlights of the lounges’ food & beverage offer include live cooking stations, buffet spreads and a fully serviced bar.

The rotating menu for breakfast, lunch, dinner and high tea features fresh, locally sourced ingredients covering diverse dietary preferences and requirements.

Each lounge is equipped with PRM-compliant restrooms, ensuring inclusivity and ease of access for all passengers, including those with reduced mobility.

Shower facilities and high-speed wifi are among the lounges’ other amenities.

BIAL VP Hospitality George Kuruvilla commented, “At BASL, our vision has always been to craft lounges that go beyond function, spaces that reflect the soul of a region while elevating the travel experience.

“The launch of O’Vetra marks an exciting new chapter as we take this vision beyond Bengaluru for the very first time.

“This is not just an expansion of footprint, but a step toward shaping a new standard of hospitality that is thoughtful, rooted in culture and consistently world-class across the country.”
