AUSTRALIA. Brisbane Airport is set to open a home improvement megastore at its Skygate precinct, featuring a one-stop destination for building and renovation needs.
Scheduled for early 2027, the 4,000sq m two-level purpose-built facility, as large as three Olympic-sized swimming pools, will feature a wide selection of building and renovation essentials. These include kitchen and bathroom fixtures, cabinetry, benchtops, cladding, concrete, bricks and flooring.
Originally based in South Brisbane, the Build & Design Centre is relocating to the airport as part of its key expansion strategy, increasing its showroom footprint.

The facility will feature a walk-through experience, allowing customers to explore display layouts and designs.
The new premises will feature:
• More than 70 showrooms in one centralised space, allowing customers to browse, plan and coordinate an entire project with ease
• An extensive mix of leading home and building brands across interiors, exteriors and structural essentials
• Easy access and ample parking within the established Skygate precinct, which includes DFO Brisbane and the recently opened Landers Pocket, with public transport links via bus
• Purpose-built spaces for design seminars and workshops for industry professionals.
Brisbane Airport Executive General Manager Commercial Scott Norris said, “The Build & Design Centre is set to become a key destination for Brisbane’s growing home improvement market, offering an efficient and customer-centric way to plan and complete projects of any scale.
“This hub will bring industry together in one convenient location, changing the way Queenslanders build and renovate.”

The Build & Design Centre Director Charl Liebenberg added, “People are time-poor and building or renovating can be an overwhelming process.
“By bringing a wide range of suppliers together in one place, we’re giving customers the ability to make informed choices without spending endless hours driving from showroom to showroom across Brisbane.
“This new space gives us the scale and visibility to create a true building and renovation destination. It will bring convenience, inspiration and expert advice all under one roof, in an easily accessible and central location.”
The Build & Design Centre will enhance the airport’s commercial landscape. With more than 600 businesses on site and seamless access to aviation, road and port networks, the precinct serves as a major hub for logistics, commerce and industry. ✈
