Brown-Forman completes acquisition of Chambord liqueur – 05/06/06

FRANCE/US. Brown-Forman has finalized the acquisition of the Chambord brand and related assets from Charles Jacquin et Cie for US$255 million dollars in cash, which includes assumed debt. This concludes the original sale agreement made in March.

With the close of the transaction, Brown-Forman acquires the Chambord trademark, French manufacturing operations where the brand is produced, and the services of 20 employees who work at the facility.

Chambord is a super-premium, black raspberry liqueur that is produced and bottled in France. Noted for its distinctive orb-shaped bottle, Chambord will be housed in Brown-Forman’s Developing Brands portfolio, a group of growing super-premium brands, including Amarula Cream Liqueur, Appleton Estate Jamaica Rum, Don Eduardo Tequila, Tuaca Liqueur and Woodford Reserve Bourbon.

“Chambord is a perfect addition to the Developing Brands portfolio,” said Brown-Forman Managing Director Developing Brands Erin Schlader. “Charles Jacquin et Cie has done a wonderful job growing Chambord over its 25-year history and we look forward to building this brand for many years ahead. As a versatile, elegant, super-premium liqueur, Chambord provides great opportunities to work with other Brown-Forman brands, such as Korbel Champagne, Finlandia Vodka, Don Eduardo Tequila, among others.”
