CARIBBEAN. The World Travel & Tourism Council said in a report that Caribbean tourism is expected to grow an average of +4.4% annually for the next decade.
The report, commissioned by the Caribbean Hotel Association, said that travel and tourism is expected to directly account for 4.5% of the Caribbean region’s total gross domestic product (GDP) in 2004.
The impact of travel also represents 2.4 million jobs, or 15.5% of employment, and US$28.4 billion, or 14.8% of regioinal GDP.
The growth predicted for the next decade is expected to take the value of travel and tourism in the region to US$18.4 billion directly and US$58.5 billion indirectly by 2014.
