Cathay Pacific unveils exclusive-packed inflight sales line-up

HONG KONG. Cathay Pacific Airways has unveiled its latest inflight sales offer, focusing on new and exclusive items, as well as promotions to complement its free delivery service.

The October-December issue of Discover the Shop was introduced earlier this week in Hong Kong and contains almost 100 products that are available only on either Cathay Pacific or the duty free market in general, with many of them being limited editions.

Cathay Pacific, which uses Inflight Sales Group as its concessionaire, also claims that close to 25% of the products are at a lower price than that offered in the local or wider duty free market.

The airline pointed out the importance of inflight retail to the passenger experience, adding that in recent years it had become about “much more than duty free shopping”.

“Cathay Pacific has worked hard to transform inflight shopping over the years,” it said. “From simply selling duty free alcohol, perfumes or cigarettes, the airline has moved to offering passengers a more sophisticated shopping experience with an ever-increasing choice.”

In addition to a wider range, recent years have also seen the airline introduce incentives such as discounts, lucky draws and special mileage redemptions, as well as beginning online pre-flight ordering and home delivery services.

Cathay Pacific General Manager Inflight Services James Ginns said: “We are committed to providing the best service to our passengers and we go to great lengths to take care of every detail of their needs – from the comfort of seats to the taste and selection of food and wines.

“That attention to detail applies equally to our inflight shopping. Over the years, we have enhanced the shopping experience and expanded the range of products we offer. All this emphasises that, at Cathay Pacific, we are committed to providing the best.”

A free delivery service will be made available in the upcoming season, complemented by a special mileage redemption programme and the chance to win a trip to Provence, France. Passengers will also be able to have French black truffles flown fresh from France with free delivery to their homes.

The airline currently provides home delivery services in Hong Kong, Mainland China, Japan, Singapore, South Korea and Taiwan.
