Changi to open VIP terminal in 2008 – 17/09/06

SINGAPORE. In August 2008, Singapore Changi Airport is set to open Asia’s first stand-alone luxury terminal offering five-star facilities to the “well-heeled and the jet set”.

Located next to Changi terminal two, the new JetQuay CIP Terminal is aimed at the Commercially Important Person (CIP) market.

In the September 2006 edition of the airport’s e-newsletter, Wong Woon Liong, Director-General of the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (pictured left), said: “The 2,000sq m self-contained facility will enable passengers travelling on all airlines, in any class of service, to be served in the utmost privacy and comfort and enjoy the attention and five-star service from trained staff.”

As well as retail outlets, the JetQuay terminal will have its own private drive-in entrance, check-ins, immigration, Customs and security counters, VIP lounges, a business centre with conference rooms, private rest areas and a gym. It aims to attract travellers and business jet users who want to avoid the bustle of Changi’s main terminals.

Passengers will be transported via limousine on the tarmac between the CIP Terminal and their waiting commercial or private aircraft.

Usage of the CIP Terminal will be based on membership. JetQuay will offer a multi-tiered membership structure tailored to meet the varying needs of passengers. Individual, group and corporate memberships are available. Members will need to purchase points which will be progressively deducted from their account as they use particular services and members who buy more points will be able to enjoy a greater discount. Changi said JetQuay would also welcome passengers who wish to use the facility on an ad-hoc basis.

The CIP terminal is described by CAAS as “another initiative to retain Singapore’s position as the top regional aviation hub and it is part of CAAS’ efforts to offer the widest range of services, from budget to the ultra-exclusive at Changi”.
