Clinique’s new limited-edition Aromatics Elixir trio |
Clinique has created a limited-edition collection to celebrate the 40th anniversary of its Aromatics Elixir fragrance. It is rolling out in travel retail within Europe, the Middle East and Africa this month.
The collection comprises the original fragrance (100ml), a 25ml Perfumer’s Reserve version and a 1.4g solid perfume housed in an amber-coloured, cabochon necklace. Each anniversary piece is presented in special packaging embossed with the signature Aromatics Elixir flower. The recommended domestic price points are around €81, €100 and €65, respectively.
The Aromatics Elixir juice is a green chypre. It opens on notes of verbena, coriander, clary sage and chamomile, atop a heart of Bulgarian rose, jasmine and ylang-ylang. The base blends patchouli, oakmoss, sandalwood, orris and labdanum.
Although rarely advertised, the fragrance has attracted a cult following. Over the past decade alone, 19.7 million flacons have been purchased worldwide, with over four of its fragrant incarnations being sold every minute.
To celebrate its 40th anniversary, Clinique has commissioned a limited-edition Perfumer’s Reserve tribute. Using cutting-edge molecular distillation technology from Grasse’s renowned Laboratoire Monique Rémy (LMR), it is said to offer a fresher, smoother, modern interpretation of nose Bernard Chant’s original.
Composed by IFF’s Laurent Le Guernec, the Perfumer’s Reserve fragrance features notes of rose, jasmine, myrrh and patchouli, blended with orange flower absolute and peach.
“Aromatics Elixir is one of perfumery’s most dazzling compositions,” noted Le Guernec. “It is referred to as a masterpiece because of the beauty of its formulation, the sumptuousness of its ingredients and its unforgettable sillage.
“I wanted Aromatics Elixir Perfumer’s Reserve to attest to the genius of the original, while yielding a fresh perspective. I hope that in Aromatics Elixir Perfumer’s Reserve, the woman who is addicted to the original will find a new way of experiencing her beloved Aromatics Elixir, while women who thought the original too potent will find this modern homage alluring.”
The Perfumer’s Reserve fragrance is contained within an amber-tinted, brown glass flacon, topped with a stopper reminiscent of a crystal decanter.
