SINGAPORE. Singapore Changi Airport, which was voted Best Airport – Asia in the recent 2004 AETRA survey, is often known for its many unique facilities, such as the rooftop swimming pool and relaxing gardens, which make spending time in the airport enjoyable.
But Changi also offers a wide – and growing – selection of 24-hour specialty coffee outlets.
Seven renowned specialty coffee outlets are battling it out for the “coffee money” of air travellers and airport users. The latest being the European coffee outlet, Café Ritazza by SSP (Compass Group), which opened its first outlet in Singapore at Changi terminal one this month. Café Ritazza is SSP’s own brand and is being developed fast in travel retail locations around the globe such as Changi and New York JFK terminal four.
The other 24-hour specialty coffee outlets in Changi are Coffee Bean (T1 transit area, T2 transit area and T2 departure check-in hall); Lavazza (T2 transit area); Coffee Club Xpress (T1 transit area), and Starbucks in T2 departure check-in hall.
These 24-hour specialty coffee outlets account for about 20% of the F&B revenue at Changi according to the airport authority CAAS.
