PAKISTAN. The deadline falls today for bids to manage the five-year duty free shop concession at Karachi International Airport’s Jinnah Terminal.
The bid is being managed on a two-envelope basis, one technical and the other financial; bidders must secure at least an 80% weighting in their technical proposals to reach the next stage.
The reserve fee for the concession is US$854,713 a year, with a cumulative +10% increase during the subsequent years of the agreement. In addition, the winner will pay prescribed charges for use of the space, plus a percentage of gross turnover as follows:
*On sales up to US$300,000: 3%
*On sales between US$300,000 and US$400,000: 3.5%
*On sales between US$400,000 and US$500,000: 4%

In related news, the deadline falls on Monday 7 September for the tender to establish and manage a new “˜Branded Designer Emporium’ in 1,300sq ft, also at Jinnah Terminal Karachi. The store is located in International Departures next to the main duty free shop.
The reserve price is Rs690,000 (US$6,600) per month for the five-year contract, rising by +10% a year in subsequent years.
