The collection of small leathergoods, bags and sports bags for men and women co-ordinates with the Lacoste apparel |
FRANCE. Lacoste has announced that from January 2011 the leathergoods licence will be handed over to the French fashion company’s partner, Devanlay.
This significant change in direction represents a strategic decision on behalf of Lacoste S.A. to reinforce its partnership with the Devanlay Group and to launch a new range of premium leathergoods, including handbags, sports bags and small leathergoods.
The collaboration marks a fresh phase of accessories development by Lacoste S.A. with Devanlay (Lacoste’s historical partner); a partnership that is strongly reinforced through granting this new licence.
As part of the new agreement, Devanlay will be responsible for the Spring/Summer 2011 collection and will control all buying meetings with immediate effect (from June 2010).
With small leathergoods, bags and sports bags collections for both men and women, the new collection is designed to co-ordinate with the Lacoste apparel line.
Devanlay International Travel Retail Director Catherine Bonelli will now also manage the distribution of leathergoods.
Travel retail an important focus
Commenting on the new structure, Bonelli said: “We are absolutely delighted to be taking over the Lacoste leathergoods licence, further strengthening our already excellent relationship with Lacoste S.A. For travel retail this is an excellent move, enabling us to offer our retail partners a much expanded line with fashion and leathergoods items merchandised in perfect harmony. It also makes the process of working with Lacoste much more straightforward for retailers.”
Travel retail is an important focus for Lacoste and the company continues to invest in the sector. The company now has 160 travel retail points of sale and is hoping to increase that to over 300 by 2014.
“With the addition of the leathergoods licence and a new, fantastic collection of high quality leathergoods, I am confident that we will achieve our goal,” said Bonelli.
The leathergoods licence was previously with LATR in travel retail.
