MACAU (CHINA). DFS tomorrow evening celebrates the Grand Opening of the new DFS Galleria Macao, its dazzling “˜luxury only’ retail emporium at The Shoppes at Four Seasons, adjacent to the Four Seasons Hotel Macao on The Cotai Strip.

In keeping with the Galleria’s upscale image, the gala evening, hosted by DFS Chairman and CEO Ed Brennan, is themed “Your key to unlocking luxury”.
A range of exclusive and limited-edition items will be on show from the branded boutiques that make up the Galleria’s Fashion World. Special events and items will also be featured in the Beauty and Luxury Worlds.
Throughout the Galleria, DFS will be displaying its unrivalled collection of around 185 very special products dubbed “˜Exceptional Items’.
One example is the Louis Vuitton Patchwork Bag, one of just five available in the world and priced at MOP498,800 (around US$62,000). Another is a Hermès Birkin Bag, embellished with diamonds on the clasp, which retails for MOP1,540,400 (US$193,000).
The latter will be one of 12 rare pieces houses in “˜The Luxury Vault’ for one night only to celebrate the Grand Opening.

The Moodie Report toured the new Galleria last month with DFS Group DFS President, Worldwide Store Operations, Michael Schriver and Asia Group President Tim Delessio and Pacific Division/US Group Managing Director Jim Beighley. Comparing the new store with DFS Galleria Okinawa – the retailer’s last great “˜greenfield’ opening, formally unveiled in early 2005 – Schriver told The Moodie Report: “The main difference here is that our big brands are bigger but you’ll also find that the product offering is much more elaborate, much more extensive, and very focused on a Macau gambling consumer.”
Industry guests will get to judge those claims for themselves tomorrow evening in what promises to be one of the great celebrations in DFS Group’s history.
