CHINA. Hainan offshore duty-free sales climbed by +8.6% year-on-year to reach CNY202 million (US$29.8 million) during the Dragon Boat Festival holiday from 19 to 21 June. That’s according to data just released by Haikou Customs and published initially by state broadcaster CCTV.
Some 34,700 shoppers purchased a total of 159,000 items, with these figures representing increases of +11.2% and +1.9% respectively.

Haikou Customs noted that family and group travellers contributed strongly to the vibrant duty-free market, with premium skincare products and smart digital devices among the most popular product categories. 🏝️
