US. Dubai Duty Free has been awarded the ‘Best Duty Free Shops’ title by publishers of US magazine Global Traveler at its annual awards ceremony in New York.
The Global Traveler Awards follow a reader survey spanning 49 categories, including airlines, loyalty programmes, destinations, hotels, airports and, for the first time in 2007, a Best Duty Free Shops category.
The award marks the first of the year for Dubai Duty Free, which in 2007 was named Airport Retailer of the Year at the Frontier Awards in addition to winning both the Business Traveller UK and Business Traveller Middle East awards for Best Duty Free Shopping.
Commenting on the Global Traveler Award, Dubai Duty Free Managing Director Colm McLoughlin said: “We are delighted to receive this inaugural duty free award from Global Traveler and I would like to thank the readers for voting for Dubai Duty Free. The US market has opened up dramatically with the increase of direct flights and this award reflects the growing awareness of the fantastic facilities that we have here at Dubai International Airport.”
