Dubrovnik Airport posts healthy growth in travel retail sales in 2011

CROATIA. Dubrovnik Airport Duty Free Shop posted record annual turnover in 2011, with the figure hitting almost €10.2 million. That was a +9.2% rise over 2010. Just over 40% of turnover (€4.1 million) came in the period between 1 August and 30 September.

Average spend per passenger climbed by +4.1% to €18.43 in 2011 with the total number of transactions increasing by +3.6% to 256,215. Average spend per transaction stood at a healthy €39.74, up by +5.3% on a year earlier.


Passenger numbers at Dubrovnik in 2011 hit 1.34 million, up by +6.2% on 2010. International departing passenger volumes climbed by +4.9% to 552,670. Within this, low-cost carriers accounted for 28% of outbound passengers.

Of the key passenger nationalities, the UK leads the market with a 21% share. This is followed by France, Germany, Spain and Italy.

Dubrovnik Airport Duty Free Shop operates out of 690sq m of space at the airport.
