Dufry wins Guadeloupe duty free and speciality retail contracts

GUADELOUPE. Guadeloupe Pôle Caraïbes Airport Company has awarded its Terminal 1 and 2 Departures store duty free contract to Dufry. The ten-year concession (Lot 1), which begins in 2017, includes a ‘Surf Shop, Fashion and Perfumes & Cosmetics’ outlet in T1 Arrivals.

Dufry headed strong competition from Lagardère Travel Retail for the contract. The retailer impressed with a strong walk-through concept (pictured below) that is forecast to drive a major increase in sales from the current €14 million annually to €19 million. A commensurately solid increase in the percentage of royalties is also expected, underpinned by a solid minimum annual guarantee.

Guadeloupe 2As revealed by The Moodie Davitt Report in April, Guadeloupe Pôle Caraïbes Airport Company called for Expressions of Interest for a series of commercial tenders ranging from duty free to food & beverage.
