USA. Duty Free Americas has inaugurated three speciality retail stores at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport. These include the first Toys”R”Us outlet at an airport, as reported previously, a debut sunglasses store under the Shade brand plus a LEGO store, another first for the location.
With these openings, Duty Free Americas now operates seven stores at Dallas Fort Worth Airport, which serves around 73 million passengers each year. The trio of openings coincides with DFW Airport’s 50th anniversary this month.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony on 17 January was led by Duty Free Americas Vice President, Airport Division Denise Erickson, Dallas Fort Worth International Airport Executive Vice President Customer Experience and Revenue Management Ken Buchanan, Vice President Concessions Zenola Campbell and Concessions Manager Pamela Housley.
They were joined by LEGO AMS Travel Retail Associate Key Account Manager Iremis Lorenzo and Mary Cacciacarne, Head of Global Merchandising of Toys”R”Us/Babies”R”Us at WHP Global to celebrate the inauguration of their respective brand stores. RS Harris CEO & President Ronnie Harris, an Airport Concessions Disadvantaged Business Enterprise partner, was also in attendance.
“We are thrilled to officially open the doors to these three new speciality stores, each offering their own distinct shopping experiences at DFW Airport,” said Duty Free Americas Vice President Joseph Falic.
“These launches are especially exciting as they come as our friends at DFW Airport celebrate 50 years of excellence in American aviation – a landmark moment in the airport’s history. I would like to congratulate the team on a half-century of distinction.
“We are delighted to be a long-term partner of the airport, and we share a commitment to delivering the best possible experience to our travelling customers. I would also like to thank our partners at Toys”R”Us, Shade and The LEGO Group for their partnership, which allows Duty Free Americas to play a central role in their growth strategy across the region.”
“Toys”R”Us is a storied brand and DFW Airport is excited to be the first airport with the company’s reimagined store,” said Ken Buchanan. “One of our key focuses is to ensure our customers can enjoy their time while at DFW Airport, and the addition of Toys”R”Us, LEGO and Shade will add to our growing portfolio of exceptional experiences.” ✈
