Etienne Aigner’s anniversary motif |
German luxury fashion house Etienne Aigner is set to celebrate 30 years of exhibiting at duty free events. The company has been showcasing its leather goods and accessories ranges to travel retail since 1982, and will celebrate this landmark with a special party at the TFWA World Exhibition in Cannes. The event will take place on 23 October on the company stand (Yellow Village: H35) and will be attended by Aigner CEO Sibylle Schön.
To further commemorate the occasion, Aigner has created a brightly coloured anniversary motif that is to appear on a special-edition piece which will be presented to all the company’s clients in Cannes as a thank you for their ongoing loyalty.
“There is no doubt that the duty free shows – and particularly the last 28 organised by TFWA – have been crucial in helping us to develop our business in this channel and we really want to celebrate not just our own success, but the success of the industry and the exhibition in general,” noted Schön. “TFWA has done a magnificent job in developing the Cannes exhibition over the years and we would not be where we are today without this event.”
Aigner’s range of luxury leather goods and accessories can now be found in airports globally with key sales in South East Asia, Korea, the Middle East (particularly Dubai) and Europe, and onboard carriers such as Singapore Airlines, Eva Airways and China Airlines.
“We have numerous listings through key airports, focusing on shop-in-shops and corners, plus listings with some 30 airlines,” added Schön. “We’ve taken on a number of new airlines this year, including King Fisher, Air Asia, Silk Air and Far Eastern Transport.”
In Cannes this year Aigner will be showcasing its Spring Summer 2013 collection, as well as its Art Edition range by Shinpei Naito, which is exclusive to travel retail. “We’re continuing to see growth for our business in travel retail, particularly in South East Asia, China, the Middle East and through Asian airlines,” Schön confirmed. “So we reckon we have plenty to celebrate in Cannes this year and, of course, are looking forward to the next 30 years.”
