SINGAPORE. Out-of-Home (OOH) media operator EYE says its media offer will reach out to an increasingly valuable audience at Singapore Changi Airport, as passenger volume grows strongly. The growth trend is reflected in recent findings from the Centre for Asia Pacific Aviation (CAPA) and MasterCard.
According to CAPA, Singapore Changi Airport reclaimed the lead in passenger throughput over Dubai International Airport in the second quarter of 2008, handling 18.7 million passengers in the period to 30 June – up +5.4% year-on-year. Both airports are similar in operations, based in cities with a small population that are developing rapidly as commercial and aviation hubs.
The latest MasterCard Worldwide Index of Travel report revealed that Singapore is expected to post the biggest growth in outbound travel in Asia Pacific in the second half of this year, with a +23% year-on-year rise to more than four million departures.
“The airport audience has maintained steady growth in the Out-of-Home sector, increasing at an average +6.6% per annum over the past three years,” said EYE Singapore General Manager Raju Bhakta.
Bhakta added: “In the latest Synovate PAX results for Singapore affluents, 84% of business passengers who pass through Singapore Changi Airport are frequent travellers. Business travellers earn 54% more household income than the average Singapore household. EYE not only offers a growing audience at Changi Airport, but also one that is hard to reach and valuable.”
EYE currently offers more than 200 static, digital and ambient advertising opportunities at Singapore Changi Airport. With the addition of T3 which handles 22 million passengers annually, the airport’s total capacity is now 70 million.
