PANAMA. Duty Free Americas parent company Falic Group has donated US$200,000 to support communities affected by the 9 October earthquake in Panama, where the family-owned group has been headquartered for 25 years.
The donation includes US$100,000 for Panama City Mayor Mayer Mizrachi’s Chantin pa’ la gente initiative, run in partnership with the Omar Alfano Foundation, to build and equip temporary homes for families displaced by the earthquake.

A further US$75,000 will support wider relief efforts across Panama, while US$25,000 has been allocated to Colón, where Falic Group operates distribution centres.
The contribution was announced in the presence of Mayor Mizrachi, Falic Group President Leon Falic and Group Vice Presidents Dov and Miro Falic.
Leon Falic said: “Panama is our home, and we are proud to stand alongside its people during this difficult time. For 25 years, we have built our business here, raised our families and developed deep roots in the country.
“We feel a strong responsibility to support the communities that have welcomed us and helped us grow. We hope this contribution will provide meaningful assistance to those affected by the earthquake as Panama begins to recover.”
Falic Group employs more than 2,000 people in Panama. ✈
