Confectionery & food manufacturer Fazer highlighted its most popular products plus new ranges at Cannes this year. Key lines showcased included the palm-oil free Geisha with a nougat filling.
Fazer has committed to replacing palm oil in all its confectionery and biscuit products by 2024. One of the first products to go through the recipe development process was the traditional Wiener nougat, now followed by Geisha nougat. All Geisha products will become palm oil-free during 2023.
The company said the process with other products continues. “Due to the differences in use and technical differences of products and production, palm oil can however not be replaced with only one alternative, and the sustainability of replacing the raw materials is also integral and therefore recipe changes are done gradually,” it stated.
Other products highlighted in Cannes included new 2023 releases Karl Fazer Dumle Strawberry 250g limited edition chocolate tablet, a renewed Karl Fazer Selection 295g and 420g, the Karl Fazer Summer Selection 420g and the Tutti Frutti Flower Power 450g bag of vegan sweets.
The company, which posted net sales of €1.1 billion in 2021, said that these products continue its mission of food with a purpose while building on a 130-year heritage.
Fazer also announced the establishment of a new Travel Retail Commercial Unit to manage its travel retail business. appointing Kari Kuikka as Director. Previously Kuikka was Senior Key Account Manager for Travel Retail within the International Commercial Unit.
The new unit will be focused only on the travel retail sector as the company increases its investment into this recovering channel. This is part of its overall strategy to “grow internationally with meaningful and sustainable food experiences, bringing joy to people’s everyday lives”, said Fazer.
