Berlin Airports reveals the list of tenants for the 23 F&B outlets at BBI AirportGERMANY. Berlin Airports has unveiled a strong, Berlin-centric list of concessionaires for the 23 food & beverage outlets at the new Berlin Brandenburg International (BBI) Airport. More than half of the units feature concepts from Berlin or the surrounding region.
Berlin Airports said that its chosen concessionaires had fought off stiff competition during a Europe-wide leasing process. The new tenants are expected to occupy their spaces over the summer, with the airport opening in October 2011.
“I am delighted that we have such an impressive line-up of food outlets for BBI,” said Berlin Airports CEO Dr Rainer Schwarz. “The diverse range of products on offer and the wide variety of concepts typical of Berlin show that we are firmly rooted in the region with the new airport. Following the topping-out ceremony for the terminal last Friday, we are now concentrating on working on the interior of the terminal and implementing the shopping and retail concept to be located there.”

“We have also honoured our promise with the gastronomy concept to increase the importance of Berlin and the region. The people of Berlin and Brandenburg, and visitors to Berlin, will be able to choose from a wide variety of unique offers.”
A broad selection
A total of 23 food & beverage outlets will be available both airside and landside, from the main terminal to the piers.
Passengers will be able to choose from six food outlets landside and 17 airside. Four of these food outlets will be located inside the 9,000sq m marketplace in the centre of the BBI Terminal, which all passengers pass through after the security checkpoints.
In the 1,800sq m ‘Food Court’ seven different food outlets share a seating and relaxation area. The other six outlets are located in the main pier and in the south pier.
The leasing process for the outlets was divided into three phases: pre-qualification, invitation to tender and negotiation.
Over 600 applications were submitted by restaurateurs (regional, national and international), said Berlin Airports. Just under 60 companies and their BBI concept(s) were further explored at a presentations stage.
All tenders were rated and tenants chosen according to four predefined criteria: financial offer, the quality of the concept, strategic accord with the requirements of the space in question and the importance of the concept for the location.
