Fraport hits high growth in November

GERMANY. Frankfurt airport operator Fraport said this week that passenger numbers rose +5% year-on-year in November to about 3.8 million.

“Frankfurt’s noticeable recovery in demand is continuing unabated and is moving towards the record level of 2000,” the company said in a statement.

The company said high growth was shown on routes to north America, Asia and Africa in November.

“Nobody expected such positive traffic development following the effects of the Iraq War and SARS,” said Wilhelm Bender, executive board chairman of Fraport. Bender is expecting passenger traffic for the entire year to decline by no more than -0.5%.

“This success is also a result of the high level of professionalism and commitment from all of our employees,” said Bender.

In October the group saw a +2.6% rise in passengers, making it the best October in Frankfurt airport’s history.

Meanwhile, aircraft movements fell slightly below last year’s level. Frankfurt airport recorded 37,538 take-offs and landings in November 2003, down -0.4% from the same month last year.
