USA. Ghirardelli and DFS recently partnered to bring a San Francisco Cable Car experience to life at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) from 13 October to 13 November.
The pop-up was designed to engage with travellers through a strong sense of place and premium gifting.
Situated within the DFS store, the eye-catching cable car display paid homage to one of California’s most recognisable cultural landmarks. The animation invited passengers to capture a photo memory of their West Coast journey.
At the pop-up, travellers were able to buy a DFS-exclusive mini wooden Ghirardelli cable car, filled with an assortment of the brand’s best-selling chocolates. The collectible format, created to offer travellers a memorable souvenir of California, is joined by six other travel retail-exclusive products only available in DFS stores at San Francisco and LAX airports.

DFS Senior Director of Global Merchandising Daniel Licari commented, “Ghirardelli is a long-standing collaborative partner in North America, highlighting the importance of destination brands within airport locations.
“This dynamic activation at LAX brings a strong sense of place and interactivity, enriching the unique and unforgettable experiences DFS is committed to providing its travellers. This activation will add to the impressive growth of the Ghirardelli brand, including seven exclusives only found at DFS in San Francisco and Los Angeles airports.”
“The home global travel retail market is vital to Ghirardelli’s sustainable growth strategy,” added Ghirardelli Chocolate Company Vice President of Sales David Dulyx. “Partnering with DFS, a key global player and trusted partner at our home airport, allowed us to connect deeply with travellers.
“This cable car activation was more than a display – it was an interactive experience that celebrated our shared values of heritage, quality and California pride.” ✈
