Glenmorangie celebrates Open golf major with UK airport promotions

Travellers can try their hand at playing this year’s Open course at Royal Liverpool through a state-of-the-art golf simulator

Glenmorangie, the Official Whisky of The Open Championship, has launched a series of UK airport promotions as the golf tournament gets underway this week at the Royal Liverpool Golf Course in Hoylake.

The promotions support Glenmorangie’s global campaign to find the world’s 18 greatest “˜Unnecessarily Well Made’ golf holes, with Tony Jacklin, Sir Nick Faldo and golf photographer David Cannon choosing the final winning 18 golf holes at the end of the summer.

As the “Spirit of The Open”, Glenmorangie aims to drive innovation and consumer engagement in the travel retail whisky category by offering one-of-a-kind golf experiences along with tastings at the Manchester, Liverpool and London Heathrow airports.

From 10 July until 15 August, travellers through Manchester Airport will have the opportunity to play one of the par 3 holes at the Hoylake course through a state-of-the-art golf simulator. Those who manage to land their ball within 10ft of the hole will win a set of limited edition Titleist Glenmorangie golf balls; anyone achieving a hole-in-one will receive a bottle of fine and rare Glenmorangie Signet. The promotion includes a tasting of Glenmorangie Original, and some lucky travellers will even be able to sample a dram from the Extra Matured Range.

In addition, travellers at Liverpool and London Heathrow Airport Terminals 3 and 5 will also be offered private tutored whisky tastings and the chance to win golfing accessories from the Glenmorangie golf trollies, which will showcase Glenmorangie Original, Glenmorangie Extra Matured La Santa, Glenmorangie Extra Matured Quinta Ruban, Glenmorangie Extra Matured Nectar D’Or, Glenmorangie 18yo, and Glenmorangie Signet.

At each location, travellers will be invited to take part in the global campaign to vote for their favourite golf hole and participants will be entered into a prize draw to win a VIP experience at the 2015 British Open at St Andrews.

Glenmorangie is also inviting visitors to this week’s The Open at Royal Liverpool to the Glenmorangie House bar – located in the Spectator Village, between the 5th and 16th holes – for a dram or its signature “˜The Tee Off’ cocktail.
